Conveniently located in the Adirondack Mountains
Lakes, mountains, streams, Olympic venues, curvy roads.
Between Chestertown and Pottersville, Exits 25 and 26 of I-87, the Adirondack Northway.
House, studio and grounds - plenty of room to crash. Loon Lake is nearby.
The Pine Tree Motel, where many stayed in 2017. Classic.
Around here, "Roger" means the owner of the Pottersville Garage. We may want him to be on call with his flatbed.
This is a remote loop, about 100 miles - one stoplight, five stop signs. Many others to choose from.
Instead of the VanD Collection, I offer this.
Our local carhop may be taking place on Friday evening, but if not we can create our own at The Hub, a combination craft beer/restaurant/bicycle shop.

NOTE: This year's event (2025) will be like recent years, a lower-key affair due to the return to normality and/or uncertainty. The description and schedule presented on the website are for prior years; I've been too busy (OK, lazy) to update everything. No fees or registration, but please let us know of your plans a few weeks prior.
The Adirondack Mountains are roughly midway between New York City, Boston, Montreal and Buffalo. The venue is actually within the Adirondack Park, a mixture of state and private land that's larger than Yellowstone Park.
Chestertown is a one-stoplight town, quiet in the winter, but lively in the summer. There's no big hotel, but there are interesting alternatives. Last year, many stayed at the Pine Tree Motel, a classic roadside motel. Some stayed at the more upscale Friends Lake Inn. Some found houses on Airbnb. Headquarters is our "compound" on 60 acres, where you are welcome to camp out, bring an RV, or crash in the Studio building. Check out the Event Info page for more information.
A tentative schedule of events may be found on the "Event Info" page [that is, for prior years].
I-87 runs north and south, just three miles away. Lightly traveled, very smooth, nicely curved, sometimes widely divided by trees and terrain - like the Autobahn? Not that I suggest you tempt fate with the Troopers, who are quite clever, or the deer, who are quite stupid.
[Old information:] We'll have three Fun Run routes again this year with experienced leaders and more organized departures. We're considering box lunches to take along rather than overwhelm the restaurants. The most remote goes into the heart of the mountains and has only one stoplight, with long stretches without intersections, driveways, or even power lines. Another travels up Lake Champlain and has miles and miles of curves. Check out the "Fun Runs" page for the tentative routes.
Added measures are necessary due to the remoteness. Cell coverage can be spotty, so a buddy system will be wise. I've arranged to have a local flatbed guy on call. Several noted 928 mechanics will be in attendance. We'll have some tech sessions.
There will be campfires and marshmallows.

There is an obscure monument to the 928's valve timing system on the top of Prospect Mountain. The deferred maintenance is intentional.
